Today (July 31st) is Lil Uzi Vert's 24th Birthday and to celebrate it seems as if he may have revealed the artwork for his upcoming album. Taking to Instagram he said:
"(づ｡◕‿‿◕｡)づ eternal atake, 🤓wanna hear ? Do you think This is Track list cover or real deal"
While fans continue to try and figure out what he is doing it turns out that the album cover and his current profile picture on Instagram is all reference to a cult that committed mass suicide in the 90s. The art which can be seen below is a reference to the "Heavens Gate Cult" which existed in Cali in the 90s. They believed that a comet was a UFO that would transport them off the earth. Uzi's profile picture is also the leader of the cult Marshall Applewhite.
"In 1997, as part of its 4,000-year orbit of the sun, the comet Hale-Bopp passed near Earth in one of the most impressive astronomical events of the 20th century. In late March 1997, as Hale-Bopp reached its closest distance to Earth, Applewhite and 38 of his followers drank a lethal mixture of phenobarbital and vodka and then lay down to die, hoping to leave their bodily containers, enter the alien spacecraft, and pass through Heaven’s Gate into a higher existence." According to History.com this is how the mass suicide between Applewhite and his followers happened.
